A year and a half ago I released a basic add-on for Restrict Content Pro that allowed site admins to limit access to bbPress forums to paid subscribers. While it worked very well, it was pretty limited. It only had the ability to restrict access to forums based on the paid status of a member. Today, I am happy to announce that an update for the add-on has been released that introduces several more options that make it much more powerful.

With version 1.0 of the add-on (it was technically in beta before), site admins now have the option to restrict forums and topics to paid subscribers based on several criteria. You can choose whether a paid account is required, which subscription levels should have access to the forum, and even which access level is required to view the forum.

The content restriction options now look like this:

For example, you could restrict forums to all paid subscribers of any subscription level, or you could restrict forums to specific subscription levels. Do you have a Gold, Silver, and Bronze subscription level? Now you could easily have a per-level forum for each subscription level.

Do you want to setup member-only forums but don’t own a copy of Restrict Content Pro yet? You can purchase a new license for just $42 from this site.
