As part of the benefits you receive for being a premium subscriber, I am now offering plugin code reviews. If you have written a plugin and would like me to review your code, you can now submit the plugin to me and I will review the code base. The main idea behind this service is just to help provide an extra set of eyes that can be good for finding mistakes, security flaws, and non-standard compliant code.

The way it will work is simple:

  • You fill out this form
  • I explore your code and find places in need of improvement
  • I send you the details of what I’ve found
  • We discuss how to fix the problems (if any)
  • You implement the changes
  • We both sleep better at night

There have been a lot of posts published recently, including this one, discussing the proper, and improper, ways of doing things in WordPress. The idea behind these code reviews is just to provide one more resource for you to use as a way to ensure that your code works as efficiently, and causes as few conflicts as possible.

I know that it can be intimidating and scary opening up your code for someone else to see, but it can also be immensely helpful.

No one is perfect (I most certainly will never claim this), but every additional set of eyes help, especially when you are releasing plugins out to the world for everyone to use.
