A few weeks ago I announced that my Easy Content Types plugin was available for purchase. After five years of maintaining the plugin, I felt it was time to find a new home for the plugin where it would be properly cared for and developed. Today I’m thrilled to announce that the plugin has been acquired and is now under new management.

Easy Content Types has been acquired by Vertigo Studio, SRL, the company behind ThemeIsle and CodeInWP. I believe this will be an excellent fit and I’m truly excited for the future of the plugin.

When putting Easy Content Types up for sale, it was important to me that the new owner be someone (or a group of someones) that could adequately maintain it while also pushing the plugin forward by renewing the development. I wanted this both for selfish reasons of desiring to see the plugin live on but also because I want my valued customers that have supported me for the last 5 years to be well taken care of.

To all of you, my wonderful customers: you are in good hands and Easy Content Types has an exiting future ahead of it.

A few words from Ionut Neagu, the new owner:

I’m really excited to welcome Easy Content Types to our CodeinWP plugin family! Scratch that … “excited” doesn’t do it justice. I literally can’t wait to see this thing grow and help even more WordPress developers than it already has. Easy Content Types has some great history behind it – it’s been on the market for 5+ years, which makes it the oldest plugin we’ve had the privilege to work with. (5 in internet years … how many is that in normal years?)

I also believe in the plugin’s importance and place on the market. Custom content types have been with WordPress for a while, but to this day, there hasn’t been a simple way to work with them without a helper of some kind. Easy Content Types has been filling this gap for the better part of the decade, and we’re keen to continue this tradition!

Also, this sort of acquisitions are always a great experience for us … call it accelerated learning. The thing is, if you really want to cater to your customers the best you can, there’s no other way to do it than to either build or acquire the best products out there. Easy Content Types is exactly that. Plus, working on Pippin’s code is a joy!

Easy Content Types can now be found at http://themeisle.com/plugins/easy-content-types.

Will customers with a still-valid license key continue to receive support?

Yes. One of the clauses in the sale contract states that all customers with a valid license key will be given complete access to technical support up until the expiration date of their license key. The only change will be who you contact for support. To receive support, register an account on ThemeIsle’s website and submit a ticket in their support forums.

Can expired license keys be renewed through ThemeIsle?

Yes, ThemeIsle has agreed to honor renewals. Contact them directly with any further questions.

Will the price of the plugin change?

Possibly. The sale contract does not dictate that the price must stay unchanged so ThemeIsle is free to make changes if they see fit.

Will Pippin be involved in development going forward?

No, with the acquisition of the plugin, ThemeIsle is taking over all development. I will be available to ThemeIsle and their team of developers to assist with questions, issues, or migration details for the next six months but I will no longer be involved with the development of Easy Content Types.

Wow, that didn’t last long. ThemeIsle has already moved the plugin from their website. Any plan to bring it back?

    • Pippin

I don’t have any knowledge of what they have done with the plugin since acquiring it so, unfortunately, can’t say anything on that, sorry.

I’d suggest reaching out to ThemeIsle directly and see if they can share more details.
