It is a bit hard to believe for me, but this site is five years old. It was launched in late 2009 and has served as my personal portfolio site, plugin store, and blog since then. In that time, it has served me quite well and has been one of the key centers of my plugin business. Today, I am thrilled to reveal version 3.0 of the website with a brand new design and revitalized layout and organization.

Over the last year or two, this site has begun to lose some of its focus (at least for me) as I’ve been busy building Easy Digital Downloads and AffiliateWP. I have been wanting to refresh the design for nearly two years but have simply been unable to bring myself to complete it. Everytime I started, I simply felt lost with it. As time went by and the site grew, it became more and more of a daunting task. In the last couple of years, however, I have been blessed to work with some truly tremendous individuals. I decided to approach Andrew Munro about putting his creative vision into the site and helping me build version 3.0. Having worked with Andrew for several years already on EDD and AffiliateWP, I was well aware of his skillset. To say that I was blown away, however, would be a horrendous injustice to Andrew’s superb skillset.

Over the course of a couple of months, Andrew was able to take my content and make something magical out of it. What you see today is 100% Andrew’s genius. For me to claim any real part of it would be simply lying. Sure I wrote the paycheck and I provided some initial guidelines, but Andrew was the mastermind behind everything that you see on this site now.

Version 3.0 of the site is putting a focus onΒ products and education, two sections that have always been the most important but never highlighted on the site. I have always boasted that this site was designed around teaching others how to build plugins, but I’m not sure it has ever truly lived up to that, and that’s a fact I’d like to change.

While I’m not sure this new design will make it possible for me to pump back up the production rate of education material, it will definitely make it easier to find.

If you are not aware of Andrew’s work, you’re missing out. You can see it in AffiliateWP, his extensions for Easy Digital Downloads, and his own personal site. He’s a master.

Merry Christmas everyone!

It looks great man! Well done guys.
I love the clean and open look. Definitely easier to find all the thingz! πŸ˜‰

    • Kellen Mace

Looks awesome, Pippin. Nice work, gents!

  2. David Bisset

Really liking the new look. Only observation is the mobile menu – like a condensed menu vs a vertical list of links that take up the screen.

Keep up the good work man.

  3. Chuck Reynolds

Looks really nice so far; very easy to read – grats on the new revision and good work Andrew. Mobile menu was just displaying the list, center aligned, vertically w/o a hamburger or anything. On reload I got the old design. so. maybe some caching or dns issues still. anyways.. looks good on my desktop πŸ™‚

    • Pippin

I’m still working out the caching. It’s being stubborn πŸ™‚

  6. The Frosty

Looks great, I am hoping to re-launch my site with a new design by the start of 2015.

  7. jtorres_mora

    More clean, great!

  8. Paul Williams

Pippin has always rocked! I am almost done with a huge article on his Restrict Content Pro plugin. He went the extra mile with me without even knowing I was the Editor in Chief of Foreclosurepedia.

    Congrats my man!

  9. Drew Jaynes

Such a fantastic improvement. Kudos on finally getting ‘er done!

  10. Piet

Looks nice and clean, nice colours too.

The contact page also is still cached to show the old site (on desktop, not on mobile).

Think you should do something about the mobile menu as that “eats” up the entire screen-height now (in portrait on a Xiaomi4)…

  11. Jeremy Desvaux

    Hello Pippin.

Congratulations on your new design. A redesign is a hard work, you must be very pleased to have it launched.

Here are a few things I noticed while browsing:
    – The home and contact page serve me the old design. I know you are aware of a caching issue. These ones might still be cached, but despite my attempts of clearing my browser cache, no luck of getting the new page.
    – The mobile menu takes a lot of on screen space. (All of my iPhone screen actually). It might be a little confusing as Chuck Reynolds’ comment suggests.
    – On mobile still, in the blog section, your posts have a rather big padding (2rem for #content and 48px for articles). That makes the actual content of the article squished and as a result, your text as more or less 3 to 4 words per lines, which is difficult to read.
    – When clicking the plus link in the header. It shows your social links. But I was confused when looking for a way to bring the menu back until I understood I had to mouse over out and wait. Maybe you could add a close button, or reduce the over ou timer.

Well all of those are non critical of course, it’s just some fresh feedback :). I hope you’ll find it useful. Let me know if screenshots would be easier to understand.
    – You have 2 missing images in your about page.

I’d also take the opportunity to thank you for the quality of your work and engagement.

    Regards.

    Jeremy.

    • Pippin

Congrats Pippin. Awesome job on the site Andrew, love it. Great colour choice, modern, bold, chunky, and I particularly like the clear focus on core message on the homepage above the fold. Nicely done.

Only one question… what happened to the old logo? Were you unhappy with it? I liked it.

    Maeve
