Hi, I tried this plugin on two separate WP installations (on different servers, one a fresh install) and the dates for the year seem to be a day out on both installations… so Friday 17th May 2013 (which is correct) shows up as Friday 16th May (which is a day out)…. 🙁

    • Pierrette dEntremont

Sorry! We just figured it out, you have to set the first day of the week as Sunday for the days to be correct. We have a school website where the first day of the week is a Monday…

    • Pippin

There is a bug with setting the Start Day to Monday. I’m hoping to get it fixed soon.

    • Pierrette dEntremont

🙂 great, using with 1st day Sunday for now.

    • Thomas

Where do i set the first day of the week as Sunday. Im having the same problem with the days been out of sync but i cannot see any options to change the start of the week day to Sunday anywhere?

    • Pippin

It’s in the General settings section of the main WordPress Settings page.

  2. Sandra Healy

    Hi,
I just updated the plugin for your calendar and now I have no calendar when I click on events I just see a list of events.

    Sandy

    • Pippin

Change the slug of the page to “calendar” or “event-calendar”, then it will work.

    • Sandra Healy

      Hi Pippin

I changed the slug you suggested and now my calendar is visible.

I still am not able to advance to a future or past month using either of the two features you offer on the calendar.

When I select Next it takes me to a page with a zero ‘0’ on it. When I select a month from the dropdown, there is no response.

      Any ideas would be helpful.

      Sandy Healy

    • Scott

      Awesome! Thanks!

I wish all plugin developers were as responsive as you.

      Buying the full version now!

    • Pippin

      Great, glad to help!

    • Scott Bell

One more issue that just cane up:

When I click on the “Events Category” widget in the sidebar of the Calendar page, I get a 404 error…

      http://temeculawineguy.com/calendar/

    • Pippin

This is usually caused by your theme. Can you switch to the default Twenty Twelve for a moment to test?

    • Pippin

Sandra, can you please provide a live URL for me to look at?

    • Sandra Healy

      Pippin

I appreciate your time addressing this issue.

      http://www.vwat.org/calendar/

The calendar now appears since I changed the page name and the slug but I’m not able to advance through months using either of the two tools you have provided.

      Sandy

    • Pippin

I’ve just responded to your support ticket on the same issue. Let’s please keep discussion in the forums.

  3. Liliana

Help! my calendar is coming up all wrong, like is moved one day, let’s say July started on monday, but my calendar shows tuesday instead, what’s going on?

    • Pippin

Go to Settings > General and change the Week Start Day to Sunday.

  4. sanhealy

    Where do I find:
Settings >General and change the Week Start Day to Sunday.
I do not see this option on the plugin anywhere or else I would have tried that many months ago.

    Thanks,
    Sandy

    • Pippin

It’s the standard WordPress settings page, not one added by the plugin.

    • sanhealy

So I did change this setting to Week Start Day to Sunday.

There has been no change in using the two tools on the calendar. I am unable to advance a month using either tools now. It’s been like this for many months and the website administrator thinks I should try another calendar as it would take many hours to sort out the issue under the Theme “Suffusion”.

      What do you think Pippin?

      Sandy

    • Pippin

I’m going to respond to your support ticket. Please, leave all discussion there. The forums work much better for support than these comments.

  5. Claudio

    Very nice plugin!

    Question:
On the month ajax view – when you have 2 or more events on the same day it looks like only one event with lot of text. Only when you put the mouse over the area it changes color on the single event. Is there any way to add a small line or add a line space between the events to see that there is more than one?

    Thank you!!

    • Pippin

Are you comfortable with a little CSS?

    • Claudio

Not totally but I can manage that 🙂 I’ve changed CSS before so let’s try.
      TNX!!

    • Claudio

      Hi,
Do you have any suggestion on how to add a small line or add a line space between the events to see that there is more than one?
I thought you will send a small hint on where to change the CSS to achieve this one.
      THANK YOU AGAIN!

  6. Rachel M

Nice plugin, I am wondering though, could I somehow use this with RCP and restrict events? Meanning some events are public that everyone can see and others are only for members to view. Could I use this, or any ideas of what might work? Thanks for any ideas, I hope I make sense. 🙂

    • Pippin

Yes you can! It should work perfectly out of the box.

  7. Jonatan

I’m using the temporary solution (start weed with sunday). I’m wondering when will you update the plugin so that the date are correct, and so that weeks shoulden’t have to start with a sunday!
    THANKS!

    • Pippin

      Hopefully sometime soon.

  8. Shawn

Hello, I really like this plugin simple and sweet! I noticed that when viewing the calendar and you click on the event for more info, That page uses the Default Template and I would like to use the Front Page Template. When I edit the event I don’t have an option to select the template. Where can I control this?
    Thanks,
    Shawn

    • Pippin

Are you comfortable editing theme template files?

  9. Adam

    Hi

Thanks for making this plugin. I tried changing the slug to calendar and event-calendar but the calendar doesn’t show up. Could you please suggest something I could try

    Thanks

    Adam

    • Pippin

Do you have the short code on the page?

  10. Claudio

    Hi!
Our calendar was working fine and out of the blue is not working anymore. All events are leading to a 404 error
    The full calendar is here:
    http://mengonline.com/meng-events-public-calendar/

If you try any event you receive a 404 error.
Just to be sure I changed the theme to the twenty eleven and the error was still there.

When I’m looking at the event editing page, all the info is there, when I press update and preview it leads me to a 404 page again.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    • Claudio

      SOLVED.
I found the solution on the full version Q&A
I went to permalinks and made a save without changing anything. Don’t know why but that solved the problem.

BTW, do you have any suggestion on CSS changes to separate 2 events on the same day?

      Thank you again!

      Claudio

    • Pippin

      Great!

Separate the events in what way? Just give them more space between each other?

  11. Roslyn

Hello…thank your for this great plug-in. Can you please tell me how I can add a line on the calendar view to seperate multiple events on one day?
I am familiar with CSS. Thank you!

    • Pippin

Do you just mean a visual separation?

  12. Julia

is it possible to abbreviate the names of the days to 3 letters?

    • Pippin

Not out of the box, sorry.

  13. Julia

Is it possible to add daily to the recurring events? If this option was available I would buy this in a heartbeat.

    • Pippin

      No, sorry.

  14. Daniel Bevarly

Does Sugar Calendar work with mulit-site installations? If so, I’d like to download the free version and try it on a site and get feedback from other affiliates. If a go, we’ll purchase the unlimited version. We also use Gravity Forms on our sites. Thanks, Dan

    • Pippin

Yes it does! I run it on several multi site installs.

  15. choitowers

Is it possible to retrieve and display details of the next event from the Sugar Calendar?

    • Pippin

Sure, if you’re comfortable editing a template file.

  16. Riki

Can I place events from this calendar in a text widget to just view events from my calendar?

    • Pippin

The paid version has a widget for that.

    • Riki

Yes thank you, I just noticed that

    • Pippin

Your site isn’t loading for me. Can you confirm that the URL is correct?

    • Pippin

Can elaborate on what is odd about the calendar size here? http://thetacticalbay.com/matches/ It looks fine to me.

The map is an odd size, but it can be fixed by adding this to your theme’s custom CSS:

      .single-sc_event .content { width: 100%; }

  17. Dave

Hi, I have been using the free version of Sugar Calendar and all was good.. Now suddenly the calender page gives me a 404 error unless I am logged in as admin .. Any idea why?? Nothing has been changed at all

    http://www.scubadiving-indepth.co.uk/calender/

    Cheers

    • Pippin

Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes. Does that fix it?

  18. dave

    Cheers

  19. Michelle Kyle

Hello. My calendar worked fine when my site was not live in its /wordpress/ directory, but when I moved the site to the main URL, it displayed the current month but other months only displayed ‘0’. This same problem was experienced by Sandra Healy above. I signed up here so I could “write a ticket” but now that I’m signed up, that option disappeared and I’m not sure where to look for it now. I tried adding /wordpress/ to your code but that didn’t help, so I removed everything I added, but now when I activate your calendar, it replaces all pages of my website with error messages, so it’s inactive. I don’t want to uninstall and reinstall because I inputted many events into the calendar and don’t want to lose all that data. I would appreciate some help. If you could at least email me your original code so I could replace what’s there (in case I somehow messed it up), that ought to get me back to being able to activate your calendar so you could look at it. My site is http://www.purrhealing.ca. Thanks in advance!

  20. Michelle Kyle

Hi again. I no longer need this part: “If you could at least email me your original code,” as I remembered I had another copy of it, so I’ve replaced the code. Now the calendar is active, with the same issue as Sandra Healy’s, which you can see at my site above. It would be helpful if you could post the fix for this recurring problem here, so new people with this issue could perhaps deal with it without bothering you. Thank you for your time!

    • Pippin

What language is the site using?

    • Michelle

Now it’s working! Wonderful! Did you somehow fix it, or did it fix itself? Either way, great! 🙂

    • Pippin

      Great! I didn’t do anything.

  21. asyarif

    hi,

how do you put this on the sidebar? i dont see any widget for this plugin on appearance -> widget . thanks

  22. ariel

    Hello, two questions
1- is there a spanish version of the plug-in?
2- is there a way of putting the events in an specific order in the link ‘yoursite/events’ – by default shows the latest date first. I’d like to use it more as a listing of upcoming events rather than an archive.
    Thanks, Ariel.

    • Pippin

      1. No, sorry.

      2. You could use the Post Types Re-Order plugin. That would do it.

    • ariel

Thanks very much for your replay. The Re-Order plug in sorted that.
It’s really a pity the Calendar doesn’t show in spanish, the plug in is very good, but I don’t think I can use it, as it’s for a website in Argentina.

  23. Bob

I am using the free version of Sugar Calendar, Seems that everything is working Except the actual view of the calendar. All I have are white box for days month text at the top, no days or other color showing on the calendar page. Drop downs work, previous and next work as well.

    Thanks in advance

  24. Jody

I placed the shortcode on the page that I want the calendar to appear and then created an event. The event text does not show up on the calendar? I would like the event to show up on the calendar, what do I need to do?

    • Pippin

Could you show me a live URL?

    • Pippin

That page shows me a 404 error.

  25. Bruce Walker

Is this compatible with WordPress 3.8?

    Bruce,

    • Pippin

      Yes it is!

  26. Shaun

When I go to where the calendar is all i see is numbers no actual calendar layout. But then I refresh the page and I see the calendar in the proper format.

    Any Ideas/

    • Pippin

Could you show me a live URL?

  27. Peter

Great plugin, I just wondered if there’s a way to remove the white bar as seen on the URL shown? It has the published date ‘February 2, 2014’ and the word ‘admin’ in it?
    Thanks, Peter

    • Pippin

That is coming from your theme. Are you comfortable editing template files?

    • Peter

      Hi Pippin,

Many thanks for your reply, I’m pretty OK with editing template files etc. but I don’t even know what to edit to resolve this!

      Thanks,
      Peter

    • Pippin

      Great, first do this:

      1. Copy single.php to a new file called “single-sc_event.php”
      2. Open the new file.
      3. Find where the date and author name are displayed and remove them.

  28. Michael Mullins

How do I remove (or modify) the text “Archive” on my events page heading?

    Thank you for your time

    • Pippin

      1. Copy archive.php from your current theme to a new file called “archive-sc_event.php”
      2. Open the file
      3. Locate the Archive title
      4. Remove / change it
