Simple Full Screen Background Image will allow you to easily upload and set a full screen image as the background of your WordPress website. Images will be automatically scaled with the browser, so regardless of the browser size, the image will always fill the screen, even as the browser is resized live.

I am wondering why I get flashing when pages are loading on my site. The plug in is easy to use and it does work, except for the flashing. I am getting this in Firefox, Sarfari and Chrome. Have not tested with IE. I am using the http://storefrontthemes.com/ Elegance and I was suggested to your plug in from the support page from the developer, so I know it is works with this theme. Using a 1600 by 1200 jpeg and have tried different sizes and png,gif also. Have no color set to my background color. I will keep trouble shooting while waiting for a response. ty. I want to buy the full product but waiting to see if I can work this problem out first.

    • Pippin

Could you post a live URL?

  2. Aleksandr

    Hello
    Sorry for bad english.
    I liked your plugin.
Prompt please the plugin parameters realistic apply for the pages?
I’m trying to mimic this site http://www.elenavasichkina.com/album/9/
Tell me how do I apply this effect?
I want on the pages of images approximately 900×600 pixels stretched for monitors with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
Yet it would be great to use multiple images for the background, about 10

    • Pippin

That is not possible with this plugin.

    Hello Pippin,

Thanks for your great plugin, it is exactly what I was looking for. However, the background image is now all over the page. I would like the background to be around the edges only and keep the white color for the content part of my site. How can i achieve this? Thanks

    • Pippin

Can you give me a URL to your site?

    • crispin hull

      Hi
Installed plug-in. The image appeared as background to the whole site including the posts and sidebars. I expected it only to appear down the sides. Saw your reply that you need to add a background colour to the body so I added a light yellow to the child theme style css as follows:

      body {
      background:#fdfedd;

Now the image does not show at all. How do I get the background image to show ONLY down the sides with the posts background as white or very light colour so it can be read. When this is achieved I will buy the pro version so I can have more than one image.

If it works it would be a fantastic plugin. I tried to get this effect a year ago with css coding to no avail.

      Many thanks Crispin

    • Pippin

Could you tell me the URL to your site so I can see it?

    • Pippin

      Crispin,

Please do not post login credentials here as everything is public.

It’s not showing on your site due to an issue with your theme. As a quick test, does it show up with the Twenty Twelve theme?

  4. Aimee

This is a wonderful plugin, thanks for making it!

I am having a problem though. I use WordPress for my site, and it was working fine yesterday, but today I made an adjustment to the CSS code for the front page, and now the blue background that I am using with your plugin is only visible on the other pages, not the font page. I tried reinstalling the plugin, but it is still the same white background. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? I would revert to the CSS that I was using before, except I didn’t make a copy of it!

    Thanks.

    • Pippin

Could you show me a live URL?

  5. ashvin

Hi Pippin, I have downloaded the plugin but when uploading image and inserting into post nothing happens. I am not using the paid one, is this the problem?

    • Pippin

Click the “File URL” button first.

  6. NJ

I installed your simple background plugin in wordpress. What I am trying to do is a split test with a plain background and a picture background between 2 squeeze pages. Am using same domain for split test eg. http://www.domain.com/split1 http://www.domain.com/split2. What is happening though is when I upload the background using your plugin everything with that domain is coming out with the background. How can I use it where I have no background for 1 squeeze page and a background for another squeeze page or different backgrounds for each squeeze page using the same domain?

    • Pippin

The Pro version lets you set backgrounds on a per-page basis.

  7. thestealthyfox

Can you set the background to just show at the sides, keeping a white background to the strip of body? Otherwise it’s impossible to read the text!

    Site is http://www.astridkearneyblog.com

    Thanks!

    • Pippin

That’s happening because your theme does not have a background color in the body section. Are you familiar with CSS?

    • thestealthyfox

I am indeed – not that great at writing from scratch but have an understanding!
Do I need to somehow code a body background?

      Thanks.

    • Pippin

Yes. Search Google for how to apply a background color with CSS. You should be able to find some simple tutorials on it.

  8. Diego Ladino

    Hello, nice plugin!!
Id like to know, if its possible to add a link to that background image!!

    Thanks!!

    • Pippin

      No it is not.

  9. CaptKB

Does the plugin automatically allow the page to float in the middle of the page as in your video? Or, is that accomplished via other code or settings?

    • Pippin

I’m not quite sure what you mean.

  10. Colorora

I installed your plug-in but it did not show up on my appearance category if it helps I am using the spectrum theme for my blog.

    • Pippin

It should be in Appearance > Fullscreen Background. It’s not there?

  11. Juan

    Hi¡

When I try to choose an Image it throw this message: “Are you sure you want to do this?”. It does not allow mi to choose an image.

    Thanks¡

    • Pippin

      Try clicking “File URL” first.

  12. greg

I was wondering if the paid version of this plug-in has the ability to show a different image each time a page is landed on or refreshed?

    • Pippin

It has the ability to load multiple images per page, but the order will always be the same.

    • greg

Thanks. Do the images change slide-show fashion based on time? I would like the image to static (not slide show) but have a different image each time the page is refreshed or landed on.

    • Pippin

If there are multiple images set, they cycle through.

    • greg

Thanks. What triggers the cycling? Time?

    • Pippin

      It’s automated.

  13. Eva

Is it possible to set the background image to only appear on the homepage?

  14. Kenneth

Pre-purchase question. Can I link these images?

    • Pippin

This is a free plugin, but no, you cannot link images to external URLs.

  15. john

    didn’t work on woothemes

    • Pippin

Can you be a bit more specific?

  16. Kiran

    I got following Error

The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.”

    • Pippin

You will need to increase your max upload size.

  17. Michael Jensen

    Nice plugin.
It would be very helpfull if we could schedule the background images for the seasons, but also for New Year, Christmas, 4th July and any other markable days.

  18. Tim C

The plugin is perfect for what I need. However, I have one problem: Is there a way to stop the image from scrolling down the page?

Instead of having the background scroll down with the user, I want it to be fixed to the top of the screen? How can I do this?

    • Pippin

      No, sorry.

  19. Sam

I’m sorry some of these people leave silly comments w/o providing proper information, or replying to your follow-up questions.

I used this plugin a while ago, and want to use it again on another client’s website. I notice you’ve made recent comments on this site here, so I’m assuming you stay on top of this plugin.

However, I noticed it hasn’t been updated in 11 months, and wanted to make sure it didn’t have any compatibility issues with the current version of WordPress.

    Thanks.

    -Sam

    • Pippin

There are no compatibility issues I am aware of.

  20. Bill Litwack

I have free version and the the paid version full screen background and simple full screen background. I can’t get either one to to work. I have Full screen GB image in Appearance. I choose an image. I click File URL. Nothing changes on the site. Can you help?

    Thank you.

    • Pippin

Does clicking the “File URL” before clicking “Insert Into Post” fix the issue for you? http://d.pr/i/AV3p

  21. Bill Litwack

No, clicking the File URL before clicking “insert into Post” doesn’t help.

    • Pippin

I suspect this is happening due to a conflict with another plugin on your site or your theme. For a quick test, could you switch to the default Twenty Twelve theme and try again?

  22. Bill Litwack

Will switching to the default 2012 theme change the site?

    • Pippin

Yes it will, but you can restore it back to exactly as it was by reactivating your current theme.

  23. Bill Litwack

I changed it to 2012, and it showed my background image in large size. So it seems to work in 2012.

  24. Bill Litwack

Is there any way to make it work in 2013?

    • Pippin

Is 2013 the theme you’re using? I’ve tested with 2013 and it has always worked for me . . .

  25. Bill Litwack

I am using Simple Full Screen Background Images on a 2013 WordPress theme. I bought your priced version, but it clashed with a drop-down widget that I have, so I am back trying to make the free one work. I follow the instructions. I ciick FILE URL because you mention it in some of the posts. I click save options. Nothing I do makes any changes in the site. I tried some other background plugins, and they didn’t work either. There is some talk on some of the forums that it doesn’t work on 2013. You say that yours does. Am I doing something wrong? I would really like some background images. Is there a solution?

    • Pippin

Sorry for the delay. I’m going to test on 2013 again to make sure it works.

In the mean time, a quick solution is to simply copy and paste the URL to the image you want to use into the box.

    • Pippin

Ok I know what’s going on.

It doesn’t completely work with 2013 because 2013 includes a solid background color. On smaller screens this will cause the image to be hidden. On larger screens, however, you can see some of the image: http://screencloud.net/v/ryua

  26. Jaap Vegter

    Hi Pippin,

I have tryed about everything that has been written above and sofar no luck nothing seems to work. I have the 2013 version and your free version of Simple Fullscreen Background Image.

    • Pippin

The plugin does not work with the 2013 theme since 2013 adds a background image of its own.

    • Pippin

If you want to use it with the 2013 theme, you will need to write some custom CSS to remove the default background image.

  27. Henry

Does this work on a per author basis or is it just a single image for the website?

    • Pippin

It’s one image for the whole site.

    • Henry

Right – still very cool. Thanks!

  28. Lee

I purchased the Pro version of Full Screen Background and I noticed it seems to slow don my sites response time. Any constructive suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
