Love It - 1

Cudazi, a very popular Theme Forest author who also dabbles in plugins, released a sweet little plugin today called Cudazi Scroll to Top. It adds a nice smooth scroll-to-top button to your WordPress site. The plugin is very, very simple, but excellent executed.

From Cudazi:

Adds a smooth scroll to top feature/link in the lower-right corner of long pages. Appears after a set scrolling point and hides after scrolling near the top.

I personally love simple plugins like this, even if I don’t use them very often. A plugin does not have to be large to be great, and being large or packed full of features definitely does not make a plugin automatically good. Cudazi’s little plugin does one thing, and one thing very well. It does not include a settings page or any sort of configuration, but it’s not needed. The design of the scroll button is simple and clean enough that it will work on the vast majority of sites.

Without the need for configuration, I was instantly rewarded when I looked at my test site after activating the plugin.

After testing it out, and investigating the code, I liked it enough to go ahead and activate it here on this site as well. You can see it in the bottom right by scrolling down at least 100px.

Of course, being the coder I am, I had to take a look at the plugin behind the scenes. I was very pleased with how Cudazi setup the plugin. He structured it well, laying a great foundation that easily allows for improvements and additions later on. Even though the plugin is very, very small, he did everything right by separating the plugin into files / folders that make logical sense. It’s fully localized too, even though there are only a few words in the plugin itself. We have to always remember our friends that don’t speak our (the developer’s) native language.

If you’re looking for a great little plugin to add a little more excitement to your site, then this one serves very well.
