Easy Digital Downloads is an e-commerce plugin I have developed purely for selling digital downloads. The plugin is completely free and can be downloaded from the WordPress plugin repository. This is an add-on for Easy Digital Downloads that provides an option for buyers to signup for your Mail Chimp newsletter list at the time of checkout, with just a simple checkbox.
Once activated and configured for your Mail Chimp account, the plugin will add a checkbox to the checkout form that looks like this:
