Live Demo Download
With an extremely simple to use interface, you can quickly add any number of background images to your WordPress site, and even set a unique image for individual posts, pages, categories, archives, the home page, the blog page, and even the search results page. Also works with custom post types.
Like to add a different background image to every post or page? It’s now really easy to do as images can even be uploaded and set directly from the post editor.
Features
- Upload and set an unlimited number of background images
- Images automatically scaled to fit the user’s browser
- Set images to show on different contexts:
- Global – show everywhere
- Category – show on category pages
- Archives – show on archive pages
- Pages – show on Pages
- Posts – show on single posts, including custom post types
- Blog – show on the blog page
- Front Page – show on the home page
- Search – show on the search results page
- Context hierarchy, meaning there is complete fall back support for contexts. If the current context doesn’t have an image set, then the global image will be displayed.
- Upload and set images directly from the post editor
- Option to fade images in when the page is loaded. Fade speed can be adjusted from the admin
- Very efficient with minimal overhead

Theme Compatibility
Due to the nature of this plugin, it is important to understand that it will not be compatible with 100% of themes. First, there are two absolute requirements for this plugin:
- Your theme must include wp_footer();
- Your theme must include wp_head();
These two functions almost always exist inside of footer.php and header.php respectively. Every single good theme will have these.
The other main issue that may be encountered when using this plugin, is on themes that make use of fullwidth designs. If for example, your theme has a full width header, then the background image may appear behind that. The same applies to a full width footer or main body section.
All of these issues are easy to fix if they are encountered and I’m always more than happy to help out.

The plugin does not have a valid header.
Why would i get this Pippin?
@Brad – did you install it from the WordPress plugin installer? Sometimes Code Canyon does strange things to the .zip files. So either, unzip the downloaded file and upload via FTP, or rezip the unzipped file and install via WordPress.
See if that works.
Does this plugin work if you were to use only colours? Or is it only for images?
Images only.
[...] (this means localizing it). I’m going to do this by translating part of one of my plugins, Full Screen Background Images Pro. To help you out, I’m going to provide basic instructions after the video in text form, but [...]
I’m having problems getting images to appear. I think my problem is that something is my theme is full width. Where do I look to find and correct this problem? I can’t seem to find it in the CSS. Thanks.
Please disregard; I solved the problem. I tested it with TwentyTen theme and it didn’t work. Then I went in and deleted one of the images I had added that did not show a thumbnail in your plugin. It seems that I was saving when I should have been inserting into post after loading the image. It works fine now. Great plugin.
Great, glad you got it working
Hi Pippin,
is it possible to have fixed aspect ratio for the background images ?
cheers
The pro version has an improved aspect ratio setup.
hi, using your premium plugin in Firefox I have a little problem, it works but when I go with the mouse near the border of the windows appear the scroll-bar, when I return to the centre of the screen the scroll-bar disappear causing a fastidious blinking, the page it self is not so high to activte th scrollbar,
how can I fix this problem?
before using your plugin i was using just a single image background with this css:
body{
font:12px arial, sans-serif;
background-image: url(“bg/image.jpg”);
background-position: center top;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-attachment: fixed;
margin-top: 5px;
}
and it works with no problem.
Tahnks a lot
Can you give me a URL so that I can try this out for myself?
Just bought the plugin, amazing work man! I was first using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-full-screen-background-image/, your free plugin, but I like the extended settings..
The one thing I’m dissapointed about is that the free plugin resizes the background image horizontally and vertically. The premium plugin doesn’t. When your browser is higher then wide, you’ll see the background color appear.
Is there some quick way to fix this which I missed?
Dylan, thank you for your purchase! The issue you’re seeing is one I’ve had a hard time dealing with because it’s very hit or miss on whether you are effected by it. Send me support ticket, pippinsplugins.ticksy.com, and I will get you fixed up.
I hope you people can develope the same plugin but for full size background video from youtube or vimeo/ That would be very coooool!
I’ve thought about it
