Love It - 5

Full Screen Background Images Pro is an advanced plugin for WordPress that gives you the ability to add and set an unlimited number of full screen background images to your site. Images are automatically scaled to fit every browser size, and are even scaled live as the browser is resized.

Checkout Loading — Item successfully added to your cart.

With an extremely simple to use interface, you can quickly add any number of background images to your WordPress site, and even set a unique image for individual posts, pages, categories, archives, the home page, the blog page, and even the search results page. Also works with custom post types.

Like to add a different background image to every post or page? It’s now really easy to do as images can even be uploaded and set directly from the post editor.

Features

  • Upload and set an unlimited number of background images
  • Images automatically scaled to fit the user’s browser
  • Set images to show on different contexts:
    • Global – show everywhere
    • Category – show on category pages
    • Archives – show on archive pages
    • Pages – show on Pages
    • Posts – show on single posts, including custom post types
    • Blog – show on the blog page
    • Front Page – show on the home page
    • Search – show on the search results page
  • Context hierarchy, meaning there is complete fall back support for contexts. If the current context doesn’t have an image set, then the global image will be displayed.
  • Upload and set images directly from the post editor
  • Option to fade images in when the page is loaded. Fade speed can be adjusted from the admin
  • Very efficient with minimal overhead

The video gives a very thorough demonstration of how the plugin works.

Theme Compatibility

Due to the nature of this plugin, it is important to understand that it will not be compatible with 100% of themes. First, there are two absolute requirements for this plugin:

  • Your theme must include wp_footer();
  • Your theme must include wp_head();

These two functions almost always exist inside of footer.php and header.php respectively. Every single good theme will have these.

The other main issue that may be encountered when using this plugin, is on themes that make use of fullwidth designs. If for example, your theme has a full width header, then the background image may appear behind that. The same applies to a full width footer or main body section.

All of these issues are easy to fix if they are encountered and I’m always more than happy to help out.

That’s brilliant, I love this plugin.

Is there a way for making the picture when reaching a set size won’t get any smaller?

Hi, I’m sure I can’t be the only one affected by this, but after updating to WP 3.5, I get this error code:

“Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /*full directory path*/wp-content/plugins/full-screen-background/includes/display-image.php on line 34 and defined in /*full directory path*/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 990″

Is this something you can post a quick fix for? I’m happy to edit ‘display-image.php’. Or perhaps you could issue an update?

    Many thanks
    Ian

Hi, pretty cool plugin , I have three questions :
Can we add more than one image per page?
Can we make each image controllable by the user(forward & backwards controls)
Can i add URL’s to the images?

So i know in this video it doesn’t mention these features, But i could customize it, of if not, maybe in a future update you could add this?

    Thanks

      1. Yes, you can have as many images as you want per post/page. When you have multiple images on a page, the images will cycle in a slideshow-type fashion.

      2. No, sorry.

    Great, great plugin.

I’ve bought the plugin on Code Canyon less than a year ago (2012-09-21 17:30:24 UTC).
I would like to buy the unlimited option so more of my clients can enjoy this great plugin. Is there any chance to get an $18.00 discount, since it’s not on Code Canyon anymore?

If not, I would like to have a single site licence so I can upgrade it on my site. Thanks!

    BTW
What’s the best to contact you? Forum, Twitter, contact form, comments (,snail mail…). My god, so many ways to contact someone these days.

And I think you should put a disclaimer somewhere regarding the removal of this plugin from Code Canyon (which is a good move at this point and time).

Thanks. The main thing you can do is adjust the fade in time so that the image begins to fade in sooner rather than later. That’s about it. The flash is because your site has a white background and the image takes time to load.

Hello, I am interested in using your plug-in on this theme -

    http://jinsonathemes.com/fabs/?themedemo=Shutter-shot

This theme scrolls through different background image slides, or you can have just one static background image (no slideshow), but as far as I’m aware it doesn’t allow the user to specify a unique image to display for each individual page as your plug-in does.

Do you know if I can use your plug-in on this theme or will there be some sort of conflict as this theme is already designed to display a background image, albeit in not as an advanced way as your plug-in.

    Thanks,

    Gavin

It’s quite likely that there will be a conflict. You can try out the free version first to see if there is: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-full-screen-background-image/

    • Gavin says:
      April 24, 2013 at 4:42 pm

Tried your free plugin, yes it appears there is a conflict when you select an image for the background with your plugin. The image selected is displayed but it covers everything , all text/ content etc, and then my site stopped loading so I had to go into the cPanel and delete the plugin, and everything is back to normal now.

I guess it would take a developer to tweek the code in my theme for me to be able to use your plugin. Maybe i will look into this because to be able to choos a different background pic for certain pages would be really good for my site.

      Thanks,

      Gavin

    • Pippin says:
      May 19, 2013 at 9:24 pm

Gavin, this is likely due to your theme. If you provide me a live URL, I’ll be happy to help you make the necessary tweaks to make it work with your theme.
