Full Screen Background Images Pro is an advanced plugin for WordPress that gives you the ability to add and set an unlimited number of full screen background images to your site. Images are automatically scaled to fit every browser size, and are even scaled live as the browser is resized.
With an extremely simple to use interface, you can quickly add any number of background images to your WordPress site, and even set a unique image for individual posts, pages, categories, archives, the home page, the blog page, and even the search results page. Also works with custom post types.
Like to add a different background image to every post or page? It’s now really easy to do as images can even be uploaded and set directly from the post editor.
Features
- Upload and set an unlimited number of background images
- Images automatically scaled to fit the user’s browser
- Set images to show on different contexts:
- Global – show everywhere
- Category – show on category pages
- Archives – show on archive pages
- Pages – show on Pages
- Posts – show on single posts, including custom post types
- Blog – show on the blog page
- Front Page – show on the home page
- Search – show on the search results page
- Context hierarchy, meaning there is complete fall back support for contexts. If the current context doesn’t have an image set, then the global image will be displayed.
- Upload and set images directly from the post editor
- Option to fade images in when the page is loaded. Fade speed can be adjusted from the admin
- Very efficient with minimal overhead

Theme Compatibility
Due to the nature of this plugin, it is important to understand that it will not be compatible with 100% of themes. First, there are two absolute requirements for this plugin:
- Your theme must include wp_footer();
- Your theme must include wp_head();
These two functions almost always exist inside of footer.php and header.php respectively. Every single good theme will have these.
The other main issue that may be encountered when using this plugin, is on themes that make use of fullwidth designs. If for example, your theme has a full width header, then the background image may appear behind that. The same applies to a full width footer or main body section.
All of these issues are easy to fix if they are encountered and I’m always more than happy to help out.

That’s brilliant, I love this plugin.
Is there a way for making the picture when reaching a set size won’t get any smaller?
Great to hear you like it! No, sorry, there is not a way to do that.
How about the ability to have a different background picture with every refresh, instead of the fade images option?
No sorry, that is not an option.
Hi, I’m sure I can’t be the only one affected by this, but after updating to WP 3.5, I get this error code:
“Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /*full directory path*/wp-content/plugins/full-screen-background/includes/display-image.php on line 34 and defined in /*full directory path*/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 990″
Is this something you can post a quick fix for? I’m happy to edit ‘display-image.php’. Or perhaps you could issue an update?
Many thanks
Ian
Ian, I’ve already fixed that error. Please download the latest version from Code Canyon.
Great.
Many thanks.
It’s not working for me. After I hit “insert into post” nothing happens.
Wordpress 3.5
“Twenty Eleven” Theme
If you click “File URL” before hitting “Insert Into Post”, does it work?
Yes. Thanks!
Hi, we bought this plug-in. But we see photos only under the footer. What can we do? Thanks
Can you provide me a live URL to see it?
We deactivated plug-in. We are using this theme: http://themeforest.net/item/udesign-wordpress-theme/253220
In order to resolve the problem, I have to see the site with the plugin active.
Is there a way to have a full screen image in the foreground with a transparency slider to adjust how much of the information behind the image is visible?
No, sorry.
I have installed the plugin to my site and nothing happend
Elane, could you give me a live URL to look at so I can try and diagnose the problem?
Hi Pippin, first off great plugin!
I’m using the free plugin w/ BlankSlate Theme and it works with the Chrome browser; however, I checked it in Safari and Firefox and it does not load correctly. Just a blank page.
Thanks for any advice!
Can you give me a live URL?
Hi, will this work for custom taxonomies?
No, sorry.
My site will have 7 pages; can this plug-in create a different full screen background image for each page of the site?
Thanks.
Yes it will!
Hi Pippin
I am trying to use your plugin on a site —> http://aimsplayground.shrewdbydesign.com/
But most of the image is being cropped; I’d appreciate any assistance you could provide immensely.
Your site won’t load for me, just gives a white screen with “WordPress Error”.
Hi, pretty cool plugin , I have three questions :
Can we add more than one image per page?
Can we make each image controllable by the user(forward & backwards controls)
Can i add URL’s to the images?
So i know in this video it doesn’t mention these features, But i could customize it, of if not, maybe in a future update you could add this?
Thanks
Lee
1. Yes, you can have as many images as you want per post/page. When you have multiple images on a page, the images will cycle in a slideshow-type fashion.
2. No, sorry.
3. No, sorry.
You are welcome to customize it as much as you want and I’ll be happy to provide guidance.
Hello Pippin,
I’d like to know if there’s a way to fix the problem when using a full width footer and header.
Thanks a lot!
Michel
Michael, do you have a support ticket open on the forums? If not, can you please open one? http://support.pippinsplugins.com
I’d love to be able to adjust the opacity. It’s a bit too dark for my needs. Can you point me in the right direction?
The opacity of the background image? The plugin doesn’t apply any opacity settings to the images.
It appears to have an overlay of some type which is darkening the image. I assumed this was part of the plugin but perhaps its a jquery conflict with my theme?
Sounds like a theme issue. Can you give me a live URL so I can take a look?
hi Pippin………. I try put a single image in especify category but no appear…..
http://hbcolectivo.com/wordpress/colecciones/
in admin Full Screen BG Image enter the ID category 6 or slug colecciones and not appear…. instead appear the images set like global…..
This category is created by custom taxonomy………
Custom taxonomies are not supported for ID specific images.
Ok Pippin, tnks…… maybe in future?
regards
Possibly. It’s been on my list for a while.

Great, great plugin.
I’ve bought the plugin on Code Canyon less than a year ago (2012-09-21 17:30:24 UTC).
I would like to buy the unlimited option so more of my clients can enjoy this great plugin. Is there any chance to get an $18.00 discount, since it’s not on Code Canyon anymore?
If not, I would like to have a single site licence so I can upgrade it on my site. Thanks!
BTW
What’s the best to contact you? Forum, Twitter, contact form, comments (,snail mail…). My god, so many ways to contact someone these days.
And I think you should put a disclaimer somewhere regarding the removal of this plugin from Code Canyon (which is a good move at this point and time).
I’ll be happy to give you a discount to cover the upgrade cost. Send me an email from my contact page and I’ll get you hooked up.
For technical support issues, the best place is the forums: support.pippinsplugins.com
Code Canyon didn’t give me a way to put up a disclaimer. I would have loved to
Figured out the opacity issue. It was my theme :/
Can you tell me if it’s possible to change the way it flashes white when a new page loads? I’d like it to be black to have less of a flash when switching pages.
Thanks. Great plugin!
Great! Could you provide a live URL so that I can see the flashing?
http://bit.ly/12CcrVW
Thanks. The main thing you can do is adjust the fade in time so that the image begins to fade in sooner rather than later. That’s about it. The flash is because your site has a white background and the image takes time to load.
Hi, i am working with your Content Types plugin, and i thought this plugin is compatible in the way that i can say: Show image x,y,z … on Post Type “Properties” … Desperately looking for help. Thank you
Alex, do you want to show images on specific post type entries, or the post type archives?
Hi,
I bought this plugin from Code canyon but when I was looking for an updated version since I am experiencing some problems I noticed that the item has been taken down from Code canyon.
What is the reason for this? I would really like to stay in the loop for updates on this plugin.
Thanks,
Mark
Mark, I moved the plugin to this site for a variety of reasons. Could you let me know when you purchased it? With the move away from Code Canyon, I’m able to honor all purchases made anytime in 2012/13.
Hi Pippin,
Thanks for your quick reply, really appreciate it!
I made the purchase at 29.01.2013 and can send you a screenshot of the statement if you like…
Thanks,
Mark
Perfect. If you tell me your username on this site (or create one if you don’t have one), I will add the plugin to your account.
Hi Pippin,
I have registered with username Thunderbite. Thanks!
I’ve just added the plugin to your account.
Great, thanks for the awesome service!
Hi, Pippin!
Great plugin. I’d love to buy the pro version for one of my sites. However, I’m having trouble purchasing it. When clicking the blue purchase button, the page says that the item was added to my cart but upon checkout it says my cart is empty..
Please help. Thanks in advance!
Kim
Oh, nevermind. I was able to get through with the purchase after a couple of tries.
Thanks again for a great plugin!
Great!
i downloaded the file to my computer but cannot upload it to my site. when in the admin, i get this message.
The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature
the zip file is in my downloads but when i unzip it i don’t know which to choose. its not uploading any of them.
sorry—I’m a beginner.
I saw you posted this same question on the Simple version. Which one are you using, the paid or free version?
In your demo it shows the background images fading from one to the other. Can you tell me what I need to do to make that happen? It’s jumping to the black background and fading in from there for me.
Simply apply multiple images to the same context. For example, if you set multiple images to show on page ID 34, the images will cycle.
Pippin.
Hi.
I purchased this Plugin via CodeCanyon last year and went there today to see if there were any updates and saw that you had withdrawn it and were providing it here.
So.
Can you please activate an account for me here at your site for this plugin.
I can provide the license code produced via CodeCanyon if you require it.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers,
What’s the purchase date? With the move from Code Canyon, I can only honor purchases made during 2012/2013.
Hello, I am interested in using your plug-in on this theme -
http://jinsonathemes.com/fabs/?themedemo=Shutter-shot
This theme scrolls through different background image slides, or you can have just one static background image (no slideshow), but as far as I’m aware it doesn’t allow the user to specify a unique image to display for each individual page as your plug-in does.
Do you know if I can use your plug-in on this theme or will there be some sort of conflict as this theme is already designed to display a background image, albeit in not as an advanced way as your plug-in.
Thanks,
Gavin
It’s quite likely that there will be a conflict. You can try out the free version first to see if there is: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-full-screen-background-image/
Tried your free plugin, yes it appears there is a conflict when you select an image for the background with your plugin. The image selected is displayed but it covers everything , all text/ content etc, and then my site stopped loading so I had to go into the cPanel and delete the plugin, and everything is back to normal now.
I guess it would take a developer to tweek the code in my theme for me to be able to use your plugin. Maybe i will look into this because to be able to choos a different background pic for certain pages would be really good for my site.
Thanks,
Gavin
Gavin, this is likely due to your theme. If you provide me a live URL, I’ll be happy to help you make the necessary tweaks to make it work with your theme.
Hello Pippin,
I’m using your plugin on a multilanguages website using WPML. There are 3 languages (french, english and chinese) and I would like to know if there is a way to specify a background image for the 3 versions at once ? They all have their own ID and this is not practical to specify a BG image 3 times for each page.
Thank you,
Jeremy
Yes, you can enter multiple page IDS, like this: `34,23,56`
Hi Pippin
I’m using the plugin on my site with WP 3.5.1.
Uploading images under Appearance works fine. But I can’t upload any images on pages (the file is uploaded, but there isn’t a URL in the field “Choose Image” neither a Image Preview). Tried different settings, but nothing works.
Thanks, Ursina
Does it work if you first click “File URL” and then click “Insert Into Post”?
