Love It - 1

This is an add-on plugin for the Easy Content Types plugin for WordPress.

Easy Content Types is an extremely powerful plugin that allows you to create unlimited post types, taxonomies, and meta boxes in your WordPress website.

Bonus Meta Field Types add-on provides 5 additional meta field types that you can use when creating meta boxes with Easy Content Types.

Video Demonstration

The additional meta fields are:

  • Taxonomy Select – provides a drop down of all registered taxonomies
  • Menu Select – provides a drop down of all registered navigation menus
  • Color Picker – provides a color picker you can use to easily choose any color
  • Google Map – render a google map of a specified address
  • Separater – display a separator line between your meta fields to clean everything up and make it easier to read

Along with the additional meta field types, this add-on plugin also provides three new short codes that can be used in conjunction with the new meta fields:

  • [ecpt_taxonomy] – Display a list of terms from the chosen taxonomy
  • [ecpt_menu] – Display all links from the chosen navigation menu
  • [ecpt_map] – Display a map of the specified address

Not Sure What to Do With These Field Types?

Here are some ideas for what you can use these field types for:

Taxonomy: Use this field to choose a taxonomy on a post-per-post basis then display a list of terms from that taxonomy in the post. Use it to display list of “category” links on any page you want.

Menu: Use this field to display the links from any of the custom navigation menus you have created. This will let you easily display custom nav menus in any post or page.

Color Picker: Use this to let your author choose colors for their post. For example, your author could choose the color he/she wants the border color of all images to be.

Map: This one is pretty obvious :)

Hi, I did a download of this plugin in http://codecanyon.net/item/ecpt-bonus-meta-field-types-addon-/712383

When I activate it, the WP show a alert message: “Your copy of Easy Content Types is below the required version. Please upgrade.” and it don’t work

My WP version is 3.2.1 and I did the download today.

    How can I procede?

    Regards…
    Thanks

In the description of plugin is this text below:

Provides several additional field types for the Easy Content Types Plugin, including taxonomy select, menu select, color picker, google map, and separator

    And button activate…

In the archive ecpt-bonus-fields.php, the oversized version is 1.0.1 too.

André, yes, I know that. In order to use the ECPT Bonus Meta Fields plugin, you MUST have the Easy Content Types plugin installed and activated. This is a separate plugin that you can get here: http://codecanyon.net/item/easy-custom-content-types-for-wordpress/234182

Do you have Easy Content Types installed and activated? And if so, what version is it?

Okay, now I right understood! But, I don’t have this plugin… I didn’t know of this need… thanks for your help!

Sorry you didn’t know Easy Content Types was required. It is very clearly stated at the top of the Bonus Field Types plugin description. What did you think the plugin did if you didn’t understand that this was an add-on plugin?

How I ended up, through research, coming directly to the update page, just checking the functionality of the plugin with the update and not erroneously found that the update was there. It was, without apology, my lack of attention. Therefore, in any way blame the site for this failure was 100% mine.

This is pretty awesome! I am looking forward to adding this plugin extension to my repertoire. I already have Easy Custom Post Types running On one of my sites and I just have to say, for anyone out there looking to utilize custom post types in WordPress it is by far one of the easiest and best plugins you will find. I’m glad to see that you are continuing to advance your products.

On a side note a star rating meta field that allows a post author to rate a post (say from one to five stars) would truly make my day. I am creating a virtual library of recommended design books and would love to be able to provide my ratings along with each book posted. I know there are star rating plugins out there but they are more geared toward user/visitor feedback rather than author recommendations. Food for thought.

    Hey Pippin,

I realise I just arrived here the following day, but if you really are thinking of adding a ratings taxonomy or meta field, that would clinch it for me and I could also stop looking for a ratings plugin too.

    Terence.

P.S. Where does that cool name come from (I know Mommy and Daddy, but that’s not what I mean)? I bet it must have been hell at school and getting teased; its so unusual.

I’m going to do it, just not yet sure when.

“Pippin” actually comes from a variety of apple (hence the logo). The “Missouri Pippin”. My folks ran a commercial apple orchard for a decade or so. I grew up home schooled (until high school), so teasing wasn’t a problem :D

I’ve just finished making a simple ratings field type. It includes star and number rating (1-5). I think I’m going to do a tutorial on how to make the simple version, then I’ll release a more advanced version soon.

    Pippin,

I haven’t been back to your blog in a little while but have been using this plugin extensively and love it. How do I get my hands on that new rating meta field you mentioned above? Is is in the extended meta fields pack (which I also purchased a while ago) or are you still working on the integration? If it is the latter I can’t wait to dive into it. Thanks!

I’m glad you like it! I have never released the rating field in an official add-on. It is only available from the tutorial I published on creating the field.

I want to import csv of posts to your plugin- which I own. Do you have a solution that works?

For example, if I have a large catalogue of items I want to import, not by hand, but by one big fat upload.
    Do you have any recommendations?

Are the post types of the catalogue items already set?

  11. Quent says:
    June 13, 2012 at 6:59 pm

Yes. But could be reordered to fit an import scheme.

I do not personally have a plugin that can do this, but if you can find one that does support a CSV import, you shouldn’t have any problems mapping the post types to post types created in ECPT.

    1) Why?
    2) Can I have the link to download?
    3) Relevant also for Easy Custom Content Types for WordPress.

    Thanks,

    • Adriano Nascimento says:

      I try this:
Rua Contorno, Nova Califórnia, Juiz de Fora – Minas Gerais
      or
Rua do Contorno, s/nº – Nova Califórnia – Juiz de Fora
      or
Rua do Contorno – Nova Califórnia – Juiz de Fora

Like this: Street – neighborhood – city

Is that a tip to visit google maps and get the correct address?

    • Pippin says:

But if i change the 20 to 45 for example, dont show!
Rua Ch. Oswaldo Aranha, 45 – São Mateus – Juiz de Fora
      give this error:
XML parsing error. Please try again later.

I dont know why something shows and others no :/

I’ve gotten several reports of this and I think it’s because something has just changed in the Google Maps API (one of my other google maps plugins broke too). I’m investigating the issue and will push out an update asap.

      Hi Pippin:
Thanks for your answer. When you buy on Codecanyon, you buy credits, the only thing I can send to you, if you give me an email, are the screenshot of my downloads page of my Codecanyon account and the Envato payment throught my paypal account. I hope this is enough to prove that I buy them. I sae those plugins are very good (I bought them 18 Sept/2012) and I knew that someday I would use.

      Thanks again
